the story...

i thought it might make sense to briefly tell the story of how this move came to be, for those of you who might not have heard all the details...

back in september, after several years of having the idea that i would one day relocate to a big city, i started seriously thinking about asking my company if there was an opportunity for me in the manhattan office...that same month in our company newsletter was an article written by the founder, and he mentioned how many people had been able to relocate and have other opportunities to move around in the organization and that he definitely saw more of that on the horizon...i knew it was the perfect time for me to ask...

low and behold, the company said "ok, we'll let you move to NYC, pay you more money, keep your same position/account, and it can be whenever you're ready"....wow what a blessing!...doors were opening so i decided to walk right through....

after a trip up to the city in october, my cousin graciously offered to open up her apartment on the upper west side and let me come and stay with/rent from her for the first 6 months while i worked on getting settled and figuring out exactly what part of the city or outskirts i wanted to live in...now i just needed to sell my home...

i started inquiring with my prior real estate agent about putting my condo up for sale...over the new few months, we discussed the sale process, i had some minor repairs/cosmetic work done, and a few weeks before christmas, my condo was officially on the market...

after 2.5 months with ZERO interest or showings, i got a call out of the blue that someone wanted to see the place...and 3 days later after a little negotiation, i had an offer i could live with...and the ball started rolling from there...

now here i am, less than 2 days away from the big move, and i'm just amazed at how things have turned out...except for the minor detail of still needing to find someone to take over my car lease, just about everything else has been worked out, and pretty smoothly at that...

and on sunday, may 1st, i will officially become a resident of new york city...big apple, here i come! :)

2 days and counting....

so some of my friends suggested i keep a blog about my upcoming move to NYC...as you can imagine, things have been a little hectic lately with selling my condo, moving back in with my parents, having a moving sale to get rid of all my stuff, and packing up what i'm taking...now that we're in the final stretch, i figured it might be a good time to start to chronicle this exciting time in my life..so here goes nothing...
